What Is Radiology?

A radiograph (sometimes called an x-ray) is a type of photograph that can look inside the body and reveal information that may not be discernible from the outside. Radiography can be used to evaluate almost any organ in the body – including the heart, lungs, and abdominal organs – as well as the bones.

Our Approach to Radiology

All radiographs taken at Saugus Animal Hospital are initially reviewed by one of our veterinarians as well as a board-certified veterinary radiologist within 24 hours. This is the same standard of care that is provided in human medicine.

Once your pet’s x-ray has been thoroughly assessed, we will review our findings with you and explain our diagnosis if need be. From there, we can discuss recommended treatment options and help you take the next step in protecting or improving your pet’s health.
